Language and Culture

When your child attends a Havergall School, they are learning with children from over 150 nationalities. It's no wonder we are proud to offer a spectrum of language and culture activities.

What is the Ecole des Roches Summer French Language Programme?

Every summer during June, July and August, Ecole des Roches organises its esteemed “French as a Foreign Language” programme for students from all around the world, using its proven “ROCHES FLE” method. Ideally situated in historic Normandy about an hour from Paris, the programme provides a total immersion in French culture, including visits in ancient Paris, Versailles and the “châteaux de la Loire”, team sports and a great array of social activities to help students achieve exceptional linguistic progress.

Who is the programme for?

The summer schools is designed for students who wish to learn or improve their linguistic skills in French, regardless of their level.

Ecole des Roches offers summer courses of 2,3,5,6 or 9 weeks to French or foreign students from 8 to 18 years old.

The presence of teachers and House Masters fluent in French assist with the development of language skills.

Also, the presence of 400 pupils of 40 nationalities encourages intercultural exchanges.

Educational Programme

The key features of the programme

  • Language placement assessment on the first day
  • Small teaching groups average 12 students, with each appropriate to students age and level of French proficiency
  • Acquisition of written and oral skills
  • Daily multi-activity options to get valuable linguistic practice. These includes tennis, aerobics, football, basketball, swimming, badminton, French cooking, jewelry workshops, the ‘Ms and Mr Roches’ election and much more
  • French speaking teachers
  • Full board and accommodation in spacious Norman-style houses. Bedroom capacities range from 2 to 8 per room. Fully catered with a range of dietary options

Ecole des Roches teaching staff accompany all students and assist them with registration and boarding procedures. Airport departures must be during the following times:
Orly; 11:00am to 1:00pm
Charles de Gaulle; 11:00am to 3:00pm

All other transfers outside of these dates and times are E200 (810 AED)* per trip/student and extra days are E140  (570 AED)* per day/student. Detailed information will be given upon registration.
